The Hervey Bay Boat Club Fishing and Social Club is a family club based at the Hervey Bay Boat Club, Buccaneer Drive, Urangan, Hervey Bay,
The club conducts both fishing and social events and supports many charitable organisations and events.
A members monthly fishing competition is conducted, usually the first weekend of the month, with a weigh-in at the Boat Club on
the Sunday at 2pm followed by a sausage sizzle and presentation of prizes. The club also conducts an annual four day comp. The
VMR Hervey Bay Family Fishing Comp each March.
A Salt Water inter-club competition is held in October with all clubs in the district participating and taking turns in hosting the event.
New members are made most welcome in the club, but only current members of the Boat Club are eligible to apply. Membership fee is $5.00.

The Annual VMR Hervey Bay Family Fishing Competition, organised by the Hervey Bay Boat Club Fishing and Social Club Inc. will be
held from Thursday, March 9 to Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Dayman Park in Pulgul Street, Urangan, Hervey Bay. Now in its 25th year there are hundreds
of prizes to win and you don't even have to catch a fish to be in the running for most of them.
- $10,000 Cash to win in VMR Hervey Bay Family Fishing Competition
- Super Draw $8000 Boating Package or $5000 cash.
- $4,000 Daily Draws - $1000 each day for 4 days.

Many entrants don't fish at all and simply go along to enjoy the atmosphere at the presentations, partake in the food and refreshments, perhaps win a
choice in the Seniors Super Draw of an $8000 boating package from Bay City Marine or $5000 cash, or in the Junior Super Draw an iPad from Wide Bay
Motor Group or one of the hundreds of prizes in the daily lucky draws and spinning wheel draws, including $1000 cash drawn every day sponsored by the
Hervey Bay Boat Club.
There will be a licensed bar and this year's catering will be done again by members of the Rotary Club of Hervey Bay Sunrise and they will provide plenty
of hot food for everyone.
Draws and presentation times are Thursday, Friday and Saturday 6pm to about 8pm and Sunday 12noon to about 3.30pm and entry fees are seniors $40 and
Our judge and weigh master have again decided to weigh both dead and live fish at the same time this year and weigh in will be open all day Friday and
Saturday 8.30am to 6pm and Sunday 8.30am to 12noon.
The live weigh-in will again be sponsored by Fishermans Corner Hervey Bay with eligible species flathead (live only), bream and whiting. There will be
lots of tackle prizes and everyone who weighs in will go in the draw for a Water Snake Electric Motor.
Species of fish eligible for the dead weigh-in are whiting, blackall, bream, golden trevally and coral bream and also for the seniors an 'any other
species category' (excluding flathead, cod, spanish mackerel, shark and ray).
There are heaps of tackle prizes and ice boxes to win for catching fish so enter the comp, get out and catch one and be sure to weigh in a fish.
The entrant with the best fish over 5kg in the any other species category will receive $1000 sponsored by the Hervey Bay Boat Club Fishing and Social Club
and there will be daily bonus prizes sponsored by Bay Auto Marine Electrical. The 2016 comp winner of the $1000 cash was an 8.5kg Barramudi caught by
Adrian Martin. This prize structure encourages entrants with bigger boats to venture to the gutters and to waters off the Eastern side of Fraser Island after
bigger, quality fish.
